Cubase Tip - Saving Project Versions

Whenever you open a Cubase project and edit some of it, sometimes you wish you could "go back in time" and compare those volume changes, or switch these VST instruments or effects.
You might like the new mix, but you want to save it as a different version of the same project.
You may always use FILE-> SAVE AS... option or simply press Ctrl + Alt +S to save your Project as "Filename_001.cpr".
This will not overwrite the old "Filename.cpr" and everytime you make a major change with your cubase sx project it is recommended to press Ctrl + Alt +S. The numbers will go up to "Filename_002", Filename_003" and so on.

Let me know if this Cubase SX tip was helpful.

Recording a Rock Album With CUBASE SX

For the last 2 of years I have been working on an ambitious Cubase SX project of actually recording, Mixing & Producing an entire Rock Album, with one of my guitar playeing friends for the first time of my Cubase SX life...

It seems that the Rock scene was about to get "Kicked Out" by the software based Home Studios around the world, depending on plug-ins, MIDI, and all those Virtual Instruments.

I found out the exact opposite...

It was never easier for me to record layers and layers of guitar licks, while manipulating the sound and creating the exact "warmth" I needed, long after the recording session has ended. Even the guitar player himself, who wrote all the songs and recorded them in my home studio using a direct connection from his Fender guitar to my MOTU 828MKII Sound Card, found himself asking me: "Did I Play That???" with a big smile on his face...

The fact that I can replace the virtual Amplifier with a click, or change the reverb/delay/chorus/Whawha or ANY other Plug in I am using saved me a lot of money on equpment and studio time, and offered me the possiability to test different consepts of production with each and every song, until I had my solution as a producer.

I believe that the Sampling rate and Bit Rate with all other "Digital" factors that a Proffesional Sound Card can offer the Home Studio Producer are the best thing that ever happend to music as an art form, of expressing your ideas and being able to create Masterpieces from the comfort of your home.

The only Importent thing left is knowing HOW TO USE Cubase SX, and therefore I created CUBASE-VIDEO-TUTORIAL web site. There are many video tutorials I am creating and Tips from my own experiance as a Sound & Mixing teacher, and as a Producer in order to try and share the basic tools with anyone who wants to create and record music in his Home Studio.

Sincerely,

Elad Darmon.
